Technology Driven Digital Signage

Digital Signage uses a number of electronic displays like LCD, plasma, LED, 3D projection, water and fog screens and holographic displays. With the availability of new technology, digital signage are becoming more attractive to look at, thereby drawing the attention of people. The technology behind the signboards is simple. It is connected by three devices- the host server, digital media player and the electronic signage. When an audio or video message has to be displayed, then these three need to be connected. The signage and player is connected via audio-video wiring and the digital media player and content server is connected via Ethernet or Wi-Fi. And using this, the content is passed from the server to the digital media player and played on the signage.

For the content, software like content management systems and digital media distribution systems is used to transfer the desired content from the server or hosting device to the hardware, which is the signage. This content which is displayed on the hardware, is stored, managed and organized in the content management software. Content can also be directly displayed from the internet, provided it is connected to the server via Ethernet or Wi-Fi. It is vital for the display to always update his information so that people are not misguided or confused by the outdated information. Information is changed manually, as and when required.

Also scheduling solutions can be used, where the message automatically changes as per a preset schedule. If a particular server connects to a number of digital boards placed in different places, then the same information can be displayed on all the connected sign boards.
